UPDATE NFL T.J. Cunningham DEAD After Shot Sunday In Aurora CO Over Parking Spot

ARAPAHOE COUNTY, CO. (THECOUNT) — We are now learning, Anthony (T.J.) Cunningham, 1996 sixth-round draft pick by the Seattle Seahawks, who was shot Sunday at a high school in Aurora, Colorado, has died in the hospital.

Cunningham, 46, was fatally shot at Eaglecrest High School in Arapahoe County during a dispute with a neighbor over a parking space, reports say.

Police say, Cunningham and a neighbor agreed to meet at the high school to “settle a dispute over a parking space,” the sheriff’s office said.

Officials say at some point during the course of the meeting, a 31-year-old suspect shot Cunningham.

Cunningham was transported to a hospital with gunshot injuries. His condition was not known as of Monday afternoon.

The suspect departed the scene, located at, South Picadilly Street, in Aurora, Arapahoe County, Colorado, and contacted 911, saying he had shot his neighbor.

Police arrived and the suspect was arrested without further incident.

Cunningham played football at the University of Colorado from 1992 to 1995. Cunningham played nine games in one season as a defensive back for the Seahawks before career ending injuries.

He’s also an assistant principal at Hinkley High School in Aurora, reports KDVR.

The sheriff’s office has not identified the suspect because the investigation is ongoing.

The shooting is being investigated as an attempted murder.
