HARRISBURG, OR. (THECOUNT) — Jamie Nephew of Salem, Oregon, has been identified as the victim in a single-vehicle crash near Harrisburg Saturday morning.
Nephew, 51, was killed Saturday morning east of Harrisburg after a vehicle she was operating crashed on Diamond Hill Drive, in Harrisburg Saturday.
Officials say the vehicle was traveling on Diamond Hill Rd, when for unknown reasons, exited the roadway.
The Linn County Sheriff’s Office says the vehicle then entered a culvert which launched it 80-feet in the air. It landed on the road and came to a rest in a nearby field.
Nephew was able to exit the the vehicle, but succumb to her injuries a short distance away from the crash scene.
The male passenger, Robert Sims Junior of Salem, was trapped by his seat belt. It had to be cut off to get him out of the car. He was hospitalized with minor injuries, reported 1190KEX.
Nephew was pronounced dead at the scene of multiple blunt force trauma injuries sustained in the high-flying wreck.
Investigators say impairment may have played a role in the crash.
An autopsy is scheduled.
