DEL CITY, OK. (THECOUNT) — Two Oklahoma County Sheriff’s Office deputies were injured while serving an eviction notice in Del City, Oklahoma, on Monday afternoon.

Police were serving an eviction notice and an outstanding warrant out of Cleveland County when an altercation broke out between 23-year-old Eric Ortiz and deputies.

One of the deputies broke his ankle, the other injured his shoulder, and Ortiz made his getaway.

The incident occurred around 1:30 p.m. Monday near the 3200 block of Delwood Drive, reports KOCO.

Deputies were attempting to serve a misdemeanor warrant out of Cleveland County for larceny of merchandise from a retailer when an unknown altercation injured both officers.

The two deputies were taken to an area hospital but have since been released. They are recovering at their homes, Sheriff’s Office officials said.

It is unclear if Ortiz was injured in the altercation.

Ortiz may face multiple charges, including of assault on a peace officer, according to officials.
