OH Douglas DC-3 Pilot Brian Stoltzfus, Co-Pilot Curtis Wilkerson, ID’d As Victims In Monday Stoltzfus Airfield Crash

SUGAR CREEK TOWNSHIP, OH. (THECOUNT) — Pilot, Brian L. Stoltzfus, and co-pilot, 56-year-old Curtis R. Wilkerson, have been identified as the victims of a plane crash near Stoltzfus Airfield, in Apple Creek, Ohio, Monday morning

The Ohio State Highway Patrol says the Douglas DC-3TP Turbo-Dakota crashed shortly after takeoff from Stoltzfus Airfield, going down in Wayne County.

The dual-prop fixed-wing aircraft reportedly struck several trees and powerlines before crashing in the front yard of a home on Hackett Road, approximately 750 yards from Stoltzfus Airfield, in Sugar Creek Township.

The Douglas DC-3TP Turbo-Dakota took off from Stoltzfus Airfield Monday morning. Shortly after takeoff, the plane hit trees and utility poles, then crashed in a front yard on Hackett Road near Carr Road in Sugar Creek Township.

No one on the ground was injured.

Early reports indicate the plane had engine issues, which may have caused the crash, according to the patrol, reports Fox8.

Numerous power and phone lines were damaged in the crash.
