Elvis “Suspicious Minds” Guitarist Reggie Young Passes Away

MEMPHIS, TN. (THECOUNT) — Reggie Young, the guitarist heard on countless iconic country and rock hits, has passed away. He was 83.

Young, who played on countless records and multitudes of hits, including Dobie Gray’s “Drift Away,” Elvis Presley’s “Suspicious Minds” and “In The Ghetto,” and Dusty Springfield’s “Son Of A Preacher Man,” died on Thursday, Jan. 17 at his home in Leipers Fork, Tennessee, according to reports.

Young was born in Caruthersville, Missouri on Dec. 12, 1936 and then raised in Osceola, Arkansas. He met his wife Jenny Lynn Hollowell in 1999, and they married in 2004.

He leaves behind a musical legacy that cannot be overstated, reports wmcactionnews5.

If you have ever turned on a radio be it a country, rock, or classic pop station you have heard the guitar playing of Reggie Young.

He also recorded country albums with Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash, and Waylon Jennings and a fellow named Bob Dylan as well.
