WHITE LAKE, SD. (THECOUNT) — Nathan Thoe, from Hortonville, Wisconsin, was identified Friday as the suspect fatally shot by a federal officer at a rest stop in South Dakota.
The FBI says authorities were trying arrest Thoe, 34, when was shot dead by a federal officer while at a highway rest stop in South Dakota January 13, according to officials.
The FBI says an arrest warrant had been issued for Thoe because he was the subject of an ongoing investigation, reports gazettextra.
Officials say federal officers from more than one agency were attempting an arrest at the White Lake rest area on Interstate 90 in South Dakota Jan. 13 when Thoe was shot and killed.
Authorities have not said what prompted the fatal shooting.
The FBI says Thoe had been in and around Pierre in the past several months.
No other information was provided by officials.
