LINCOLN, NE. (THECOUNT) — Dijah Ybarra, of Lincoln, Nebraska, has been identified by Lincoln Police as the victim of a fatal New Year’s Eve north Lincoln stabbing.
Ybarra, 21, was found suffering from multiple stab wounds while laying in a pool of blood on a driveway near North 20th & Benton Street, in Lincoln, NE around 7:00 p.m.
The victim was transported to an area hospital where she was later pronounced dead of stab wound injuries.
On Tuesday, police arrested Neland Tevionn Gray Jr., 21, for the crime. He faces charges of first degree murder and use of a deadly weapon to commit a felony.
A GoFundMe setup to help with funeral expenses says Ybarra was a mother of two young boys.
“Anyone who knew Dijah, knows she had a huge heart,” the page’s creator, Farah Kort Wilkason, wrote. “She was a beautiful person inside and out. Anyone who had the chance to meet her could tell you that.” source
Officials say the victim and suspect had been in a relationship, and that Gray Jr. was the father of Ybarra’s children.
Gray Jr. had a prior arrest for a 3rd-degree domestic violence charge, along with resisting arrest, according to court documents, reports klkntv.
Gray Jr. is expected to be in court Wednesday afternoon.
Anyone with possible information on the case should contact police at 911.
