MYRTLE GROVE, NC. (THECOUNT) — Gary Stanton Mincolla, of Wilmington, North Carolina, has been identified as the pedestrian fatally struck in Myrtle Grove, NC, early Monday.

Gary Mincolla, 38, originally from Syracuse, New York, was on foot in the area of Cathay Rd & Carolina Beach Rd, in Myrtle Grove, NC, when the fatal collision involving a pickup truck occurred Monday around 4am, according to the North Carolina Highway Patrol.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene of multiple blunt force trauma injuries consistent with the collision.

No one was cited in the crash and the 24-year-old uninjured pickup driver remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities.

HCHP reserves the right to bring charges as the investigation is ongoing.

According to a news release, Gary Stanton Mincolla, 38, of Wilmington, was standing in the middle of Carolina Beach Road near Cathay Road south of Wilmington around 4:30 a.m. when he was hit by a pick-up heading north. Troopers say Mincolla died at the scene. source
