ZACHARY, LA. (THECOUNT) – Retired East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s deputy, Claude Smith, has been identified as the victim in a fatal crash near Zachary, LA, on Tuesday morning.
Smith, whose age was not provided, was killed Tuesday morning in a crash while traveling in a vehicle on Tucker Road & Jackson Road, in Zachary, according to the East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office.
The crash occurred at around 6:25 a.m., when for unknown reasons, two vehicles traveling in opposite directions collided head on, according to authorities.
Smith was employed with the EBRSO from May 2003 until February 2017.
The other person involved in the crash was transported to a medical facility with non life-threatening injuries. source
The incident is still being investigated.
