GoFundMe For Female BYU Student Who Jumped To Death From Tanner Building Raises $6K

PROVO, UT. (THECOUNT) — A female student who was critically injured after a suicide attempt inside the Tanner Building at Brigham Young University Monday has died in an area hospital.

BYU confirmed Wednesday the female student, who has not been identified, plummeted four stories Monday and later died of injuries sustained in an apparent suicide.

No further details were immediately available.

The incident prompted a closure of the building and classes inside were canceled Monday.

Earlier in the week the school stated the incident was a suicide attempt. The deceased has not yet been identified. source

Wednesday, students in the Tanner Building posted notes in an effort to spread love among the community.

From official GoFundMe:

We are raising funds for the family affected by the tragedy that occurred on BYU campus involving a 19-year-old student falling four stories in the Tanner building. On Wednesday, December 5th, it was confirmed that the student has passed away while in the hospital.

100% of all proceeds will go to the family to help with hospital bills and funeral services.

Our hearts go out to those affected. While we know that no amount of money can undo the trauma being experienced by our community and those close to this young woman, it is our hope that these funds will in some way help ease the financial burdens that have been incurred.

Please donate what you can and share this with everyone you know.

$10,000 is our goal but we know we can do even better with the love and support of our school and community. Thank you for your support.

If you or someone you love is struggling with thoughts of suicide, please call the National Prevention Suicide Hotline: 1-800-273-8255 and visit them for additional resources at suicidepreventionlifeline
