NE HS Student Trevor Canaday ID’d As Victim Killed By Suspected Omaha Drunk Driver

OMAHA, NE. (THECOUNT) — Millard South High School student Trevor Canaday has been identified as the victim killed after being struck by a suspected drunk driver in Omaha Saturday evening.

Trevor, 14, was killed in the crash and his father, Clifford Canaday, was seriously injured.

Trevor and his father were reportedly on their way to a show choir event when they were hit by a suspected drunk driver near 144th and Harrison, in Omaha Nebraska.

Clifford Canaday and his son, 14-year-old Trevor Canaday, were rushed to the hospital with head injuries after a crash around 5:30 p.m. Saturday.

Police arrested a man involved in the collision, 36-year-old Jeffrey Eggeling, for suspicion of driving under the influence and fleeing from the scene of the crash. Investigators say Eggeling was driving a Ford Escape when he ran a red light and hit into the Nissan Maxima driven by Clifford Canaday. Canady was turning east onto Harrison from southbound 144th street at the time of the collision. source

The force of the collision ejected Trevor Canady from the car. He later died from his injuries.

Clifford Canady is currently in stable condition.

Trevor was a popular freshman at Millard South High School.

A GoFundMe page was erected to help with funeral expenses:

“On Saturday 12/1 Trevor and his dad were driving to a show choir event and were involved in a serious car accident due to a drunk driver.

His dad, Bryan, is recovering physically, but sadly Trevor has gained his wings and is singing and playing some crazy football in heaven.

We are looking to help his mom, Becky, with funeral and hospital expenses in any way we can!

Trevor was a funny, smart, innovative, athletic, goofy kid and he was so loved. His memory will live on in many ways. Please help us do this for the family now to help ease their suffering away from money to focus on healing emotionally. Thank you.”
