VIRGIL, IL. (THECOUNT) — Michael Cessna, of Sycamore, IL, has been identified as the victims of a two-vehicle crash on Illinois 64 in Virgil, IL, on Thursday.
Cessna, 61, was traveling eastbound, when for unknown reasons, his Chevrolet Silverado crossed centerlines and crashed into a westbound semi-truck.
The truck driver, John Lantz, 54, of Rockford, escaped the crash with non-life-threatening injuries.
Police do not know why Cessna’s Chevrolet veered into oncoming traffic.
Police say a Sycamore man was killed Thursday after a collision that occurred around 9 a.m. on Route 64 east of Prairie Street. source
Cessna was the sole occupant of the vehicle.
He was pronounced dead at the scene of blunt force trauma injuries consistent with the crash.
No citations were issued in the crash.
