HOOVER, AL. (THECOUNT) — A shooting on Thanksgiving night at a mall in Alabama left two people injured and the gunman dead, authorities said.
The incident, which occurred at the Riverchase Galleria shopping center in Hoover, began with a physical altercation between an 18-year-old man and a 21-year-old man, police said.
The confrontation occurred inside the mall, located at, 2000 Galleria Cir, in Birmingham, AL.
The gunman opened fire and shot the teenager twice in the torso, according to the police. source
An officer confronted the gunman as he fled the scene and fatally shot him, Rector said.
The officer involved has been temporarily suspended while the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is conducting the investigation of the incident, police said.
