FLORENCE, AL. (THECOUNT) — Jason William Hewett has been identified as the off-duty Alabama State Trooper struck and killed by a pickup truck Monday morning in Florence.
Hewett, 34, was walking on County Road 137, in Florence, AL, just before 9 a.m. Monday when he was hit by the pickup truck.
He was pronounced dead at the scene of blunt force trauma injuries consistent with the collision.
Hewett was on foot when he was hit by the truck, Alabama State Troopers said. source
The driver of the truck wasn’t injured and cooperated with authorities.
State troopers are investigating the crash.

Hewett graduated from the Alabama State Trooper Academy in 2006 and worked in Lauderdale County.
