BATON ROUGE, LA. (THECOUNT) — Roland Carcisse Jr., of Geismar, LA, has been identified as the pedestrian struck while standing on US-61 Sunday evening, according to investigators.
Carcisse, 28, was hit by a vehicle on US 61 near LA-73 in Prairieville around 8:30 p.m., reports the Louisiana State Police.
Carcisse was transported to a Baton Rouge area hospital where he later died.
Sgt. Jared Sandifer with LSP said the investigation so far shows the driver of a 2009 Ford Focus changed from the right lane to the left lane to pass another vehicle and hit Carcisse, who was standing in the roadway. source
Officials added the driver of the car was not impaired and no one was cited nor have charges been filed in the fatal collision.
According to authorities, Carcisse was wearing dark clothing at the time of the crash.
