CHICO, CA. (THECOUNT) — Jesseca Higashi, of Chico, CA, has been identified as the victim killed on Highway 99 Sunday night.
Higashi, 42, was traveling on Highway 99 at Anita Road, in Chico, CA, when the fatal single-vehicle crash occurred Sunday evening at about 7 p.m.
Higashi was traveling alone on Highway 99 Sunday night, when for unknown reasons, she exited the roadway and crashed into a power pole.
“About 7 o’clock tonight we had a female driving a white Toyota Tacoma northbound on 99. For a reason we don’t know yet, she drifted off the side of the road, hit a power pole and ultimately died as a result of her injuries,” according to California Highway Patrol Sergeant Mark Ortiz said. source
Investigators don’t yet know if drugs or alcohol were involved, according to the CHP.
Higashi was pronounced dead at the scene.
