CINCINNATI, OH. (THECOUNT) — Ohio man, Douglas Kirkland, has been identified as the Cincinnati pedestrian struck and killed in an Interstate 75 hit-and-run Monday morning.
Kirkland, 51, was killed after reportedly walking onto I-75 and lying on the roadway in the center lane around 5 a.m. Monday.
The deadly incident occurred in the northbound lanes of the highway near Hopple Street, close to Interstate 74 in Cincinnati.
Police said the first vehicle, a box truck, was driving northbound in the right lane when the driver attempted to change lanes, striking Kirkland.
A second vehicle, a pickup truck, traveling northbound in the center lane, was unable to avoid the victim and hit him as well, police said.
Neither vehicle stopped to check his condition and continued traveling northbound, police said. source
Kirkland was pronounced dead at the scene of blunt force trauma injuries consistent with the incident.
Excessive speed and impairment are unknown at this time.
