ADAMS COUNTY, NE. (THECOUNT) — John C. “Jack” Osborne, of Hastings, NE, has been identified as the victim killed in a Sunday two-vehicle accident in Adams County.
Osborne, 78, was traveling southbound on South Juniata Avenue and highway 6, in Juniata, NE, when for unknown reasons, he failed to yield at the stop sign.
His vehicle collided with a westbound vehicle head-on around 7:50 p.m. Sunday.
According to the sheriff’s office, the driver of the westbound vehicle was 19-year-old Dariana Burr, of Juniata. Burr was not seriously injured in the accident.
Osborne was a longtime prominent member of the Hastings business community as CEO of Industrial Irrigation. According to online listings, he is also an past and Honorary member of the Hastings College Board of Trustees, as well a board member of the Hastings Community Foundation. Osborne was the younger brother of former University of Nebraska football coach Tom Osborne. source
Seat belts were in use by both drivers involved in the accident, a crash report noted. Alcohol is not suspected as a factor in the crash.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
