JAMESTOWN, ND. (THECOUNT) — Danny Howard, of Grand Forks, ND, has been identified as the victim struck and killed by a dump truck and payloader on Saturday afternoon at a North Dakota landfill.
Howard, 65, was working at the Jamestown Landfill, located at, 35th Street Southeast, Jamestown, ND, when he was struck by a disabled dump truck that was being pushed by a payloader, according to the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
The dump truck, a 1978 Ford 9000, was unoccupied at the time of the incident, the Patrol said. The payloader, a Caterpillar 980G, was being operated by Aaron Wimpfheimer, 45, of Grafton, N.D. Wimpfheimer was uninjured.
Howard was pronounced dead at the Jamestown Regional Medical Center of blunt force trauma consistent with the incient.
The dump truck and payloader were owned by On the Level Construction Inc. of Grafton, where Howard and Wimpfheimer are employed. The company had been contracted by the city of Jamestown to conduct a cover project at the landfill and were working on this project at the time of the incident. source
