WASHINGTON PARK, IL. (THECOUNT) — A Washington Park police officer has tragically died after falling off the Poplar Street Bridge, in East St Louis, IL, while chasing a suspect, Illinois State Police confirmed.
The incident occurred Saturday after the officer fell off the bridge onto land on the Illinois side of the Mississippi River, according to the St. Clair County Sheriff’s Department.
Police have not released any further details about the incident at this time. source
