CA Active-Navy ‘Good Samaritan’ Shot Dead In San Diego Saturday After Pulling Over To Help “Stranded” I-15 Motorist

SAN DIEGO, CA. (THECOUNT) — Curtis Adams, of San Diego, California, has been identified as the man shot and killed after he pulled over to help what he thought was a stranded motorist early Saturday morning on Interstate 15.

Adams, 21, an active-duty Navy service member, was immediately shot after pulling over to help what he thought was a stranded motorist on the southbound shoulder of I-15 at the northbound Interstate 5 ramp, said police.

Officers were dispatched after the victim’s girlfriend, who was with him at the time of the shooting, called 911 to report Adams had been shot.

Upon arrival, first responders discovered a Black male suffering from at least one gunshot wound to his upper body.

The victim was transported to UC San Diego Medical Center where he later passed away from injuries consistent with the incident.

The suspect, described as a Hispanic male, fled the scene but was captured a short time later. He is being questioned by homicide detectives.

The San Diego Police Department received a call around 2:20 a.m. about a shooting that occurred at The caller stated her boyfriend was shot, said San Diego Police Lt. Anthony Dupree. Investigators learned the victim and his girlfriend pulled over to help what they thought was a stranded motorist. When the victim got out of the car, he was shot immediately. source
