WASHINGTON, DC. (THECOUNT) — Patricio Salazar, of Arlington, Virginia, has been identified as the Good Samaritan killed as he attempted to stop a man from assaulting a woman in public Thursday night.
Salazar, 54, was killed following an altercation with a suspect later identified as, 27-year-old, Michael Nash, also of Arlington.
Nash was reportedly walking with a woman in the 1300 block of South George Mason Drive, in Arlington, VA, when he began to physically and sexually assault her around 9:30 p.m.. Salazar observed the assault and attempted to assist the victim, reports say.
Nash objected, knocked Salazar unconscious and fled the scene on foot.
After assaulting and robbing several other victims, Nash was eventually located and charged with abduction and multiple sex crimes, with additional charges still pending, police said.
“It’s absolutely tragic,” said Ashley Savage, an Arlington County police spokeswoman. “If you see something, call police immediately.” source
Nash is currently being held without bond.
Salazar was transported to an area hospital where he was later pronounced dead. An exact cause of death was not provided.
