CULLMAN, AL. (THECOUNT) — Janis Simmons, of Cullman, has been identified as the pedestrian struck and killed in Cullman on Thursday night.
Simmons, 74, was walking using a walker when she was hit by a pickup truck on West U.S. 278 near Rosemont Avenue Northwest, in Cullman, AL, said Cullman County Coroner Jeremy Kilpatrick.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene of blunt force trauma injuries consistent with the collision.
Simmons was using a walker while she attempted to cross south on U.S. 278, Cullman Police Officer Joey Duncan reported. Police closed the road for about an hour after the accident during their investigation. Duncan and fellow traffic homicide officer Jonathan England, who is leading the investigation, were at the scene. source
