IOSCO COUNTY, MI. (THECOUNT) — Mid-Michigan woman, Allison Mitchell, from National City, has been identified as the victim after her vehicle slammed into the back of a farm combine.
Mitchell, 30, was killed in a crash that occurred Oct. 17 at 7:29 p.m. on M-55 in Iosco County’s Tawas Township, after striking the rear of a farming equipment near Lorenz Road, in National City, Tawas Township, Iosco County, MI.
Michigan State Police reports the preliminary investigation reveals that the victim may have been texting while driving.
The driver of the combine told investigators he saw in his mirror a Chrysler Pacifica rapidly approaching him, and then hit the back of the combine. source
Troopers said there were zero signs of braking, and seatbelts were not in use.
Neither drugs nor alcohol appear to be factors, although the crash is still under investigation.
The driver of the combine, a 44-year-old Tawas City man, was not hurt.
