EAST MOUNTAIN, TX. (THECOUNT) — Ricardo Quezada, of Gilmer, TX, has been identified as the victim killed following a two-vehicle wreck in Upshur County on Monday.
Quezada, 25, was traveling east on FM 726 in a 1997 Mitsubishi Eclipse, when for unknown reasons, he attempted to cross Highway 300 and failed to yield the right of way around 4:31 p.m. Monday.
Quezada’s vehicle collided with a 2015 Chevrolet Cobalt driven by Karen Yvette Wallace, 50, of Gilmer.
The crash occurred near Tacos Mary, on Highway 300 at FM 726, about 2.7 miles east of East Mountain.
The Texas Department of Public Safety identified the man as Ricardo Refugio Quezada, 25, of Gilmer. source
Both drivers were transported to area hospitals.
Quezada was later pronounced dead of blunt force trauma injuries consistent with the collision.
Wallace was treated and released.
The crash remains under investigation.
According to a Facebook post, funeral services for Quezada will be held on Thursday, October 18, at 12:00 p.m., at St Francis of Assisi Catholic Church.
