WILMINGTON, NC. (THECOUNT) — Dashiell Titus Parker, of Wilmington, NC, has been identified as the man killed after run over by a Waste Management truck Tuesday evening.
Parker, 30, was operating a bicycle when he lost control and entered the path of a moving garbage truck. The tragic accident occurred just outside Wilmington city limits Tuesday around 5:20 p.m., according to the N.C. State Highway Patrol.
Sgt. Matthew King said the Dashiell Titus Parker, 30, of Wilmington, was riding a bicycle eastbound on the shoulder of 23rd Street near the ILM Airport around 5:20 p.m. when he struck a washed out area of pavement, lost control of the bike, and was thrown in the path of a Waste Management truck that was also traveling east. source
The truck driver told authorities he was unable to avoid Parker who appeared suddenly in his path.
Parker was pronounced dead at the scene of blunt force trauma injuries consistent with the collision.
No charges have been filed, according to King.
