KENNEWICK, WA. (THECOUNT) — 31-year-old Devan Thompson turned himself into the Benton County Jail on a warrant for Unlawful Possession of a Firearm 1st degree following a deadly Sunday morning shooting of Hakim Ward near the Columbia Center in Kennewick, WA.
Police responded to the AT&T store parking lot, located at 1103 North Columbia Center Blvd, on calls of shots fired.
Upon arrival, officers found that an injured Ward had been driven by a friend to the parking lot of Payless ShoeSource, which is right across the street.
Medics transported Ward to the hospital where he later died from his injuries. His family has been notified. source
Police do not believe this was a random act but they say there is no threat to the public.
Kennewick Criminal Investigation Division is currently conducting a further investigation.
