MAYVILLE, ND. (THECOUNT) — Troy Forsgren, of Mayville, ND, has been identified as the DUI driver involved in a deadly crash just after midnight on Friday near Mayville.

Forsgren, 45, caused a violent collision that killed another man from Portland, ND. Forsgren was arrested at the scene and charged with DUI.

He remains behind bars after a crash near Mayville, according to the North Dakota Highway Patrol.

The North Dakota Highway Patrol says it happened just after midnight on Friday on 150th Ave. NE. 45-year-old Troy Forsgren of Mayville was heading north when his pickup hit the ditch, vaulted over a field approach and landed on its roof. source

The passenger, who has not been identified, was only described as a 34-year-old from Portland, ND. He died at the scene. Forsgren was taken to a hospital but is expected to be ok.

Neither the driver nor passenger were wearing their seatbelts, according to a crash report.

According to Facebook, Forsgren is the owner of Top Hat Liquor, located at, 121 1st Ave SE, Mayville, North Dakota. His last Facebook post before his arrests ironically featured two 6-packs of “Zima,” with the caption, “Only 2 cases left then there gone! At the top hat if anyone is interested.”

Mayville is a city in Traill County, North Dakota, United States. The population was 1,858 at the 2010 census, which makes Mayville the largest community in Traill County.
