MOSS POINT, MS. (THECOUNT) — Betty J. Vaughans, of Moss Point, MS, has been identified as the 58-year-old pedestrian struck and killed by a hit-and-run vehicle Thursday morning.
Moss Point Police say they are searching for the driver of the vehicle suspected of killing Vaughans, as well as her vehicle, which family members reported missing. It is unclear if the victim’s missing vehicle is connected to the deadly incident.
Chief Ashley is asking the public for help in finding the victim’s 2003 beige Cadillac Escalade. The woman’s family reported to police that the vehicle is missing. It’s not clear at this time if it was the vehicle used in the hit-and-run. However, authorities are looking for it in connection to the death investigation. The vehicle has a Mississippi state license plate that is personalized with the letters “UGOBJ.” source
Police confirmed that Vaughans both lived and worked on Bellview Street as she owned a business on the 3100 block.
