PORT ORANGE, FL. (THECOUNT) — 81-year-old Hellmuth Kolb, of Port Orange, was arrested after being accused of attempting to purchase an 8-year-old for $200,000 while shopping at Walmart Supercenter Saturday, police said.
Florida mother, Tracy Nigh, says she was visiting a Post Orange Walmart when she was approached by Kolb who asked her to set a price for the purchase of her young daughter. When the woman refused, Kolb started bidding higher and higher.
Nigh says she got up to leave but Kolb grabbed her daughter and kissed her daughter’s wrist.
According to an arrest report, Nigh left with her daughter and alerted store security.
Authorities said the exchange was caught on camera and Kolb was identified through his credit card transaction and social media. source
Kolb was arrested Saturday on charges of simple battery and false imprisonment.
Police are checking to see if there are any similar instances Kolb may have been involved.
A judge ordered Kolb not to have any contact with the girl or her mother.
Kolb has no prior arrest record in Volusia County.
