WEST PHILADELPHIA, PA. (THECOUNT) – A female bartender, identified by witnesses only as “Gwen,” 30, working at Studio 7 Lounge, in West Philadelphia, has reportedly been shot and killed in and murder, attempted suicide Wednesday evening.
Investigators say, a man opened fire in the business, with seven out of the nine shots striking the bartender in her chest and head. After the shooting, the suspect, 52, exited the establishment and suffered a self-inflicted shot to the head.
The suspect, who has not been identified, entered the Studio 7 Lounge at 60th and Spruce and fired nine shots at a 30-year-old woman around 10 p.m. on Wednesday.
The victim, identified only as “Gwen,” was reportedly working as the bartender at the time of the fatal shooting.
When police arrived on the scene, they found the man lying on the sidewalk on Spruce Street and transported him to Pen Presbyterian Hospital. He is now receiving treatment and is in critical condition. source
“Gwen,” was transported to an area hospital where she was later pronounced dead of gunshot injuries consistent with the attack.
Investigators say they do not know the relationship between the victim and the shooter.
