KENT COUNTY, MI. (THECOUNT) — Nathan “Nate” Board is in custody, suspected of killing a Kent County couple.
Theodore Syrek, 66, and his wife, Patty Syrek, 62, have been identified as the Kent County, MI, couple found dead in their Caledonia-area home Tuesday.
Both homicide victims suffered “blunt cranial cerebral trauma” inflicted in an assault, according to Kent County sheriff’s deputies.
A subsequent autopsy determined that couple both died of head trauma.
Early on, police considered the deaths suspicious. One of their children had called 911 to ask police to check on the couple. Sheriff’s deputies found the two dead inside their home, in the 9000 block of Jordan Avenue SE, off 100th Street, during a welfare check Tuesday, Sept. 4. source
Police urged the community to be “vigilant” and to call 911 to report any suspicious activity.
Cops say there is little evidence and no obvious suspects.
Anyone with information on the fatal incident should contact police at 911.
