PHILADELPHIA, PA. (THECOUNT) — Joseph Thompson has been identified as the driver arrested for a fatal hit-and-run in Northeast Philadelphia Sunday.
Thompson, 52, has been charged with Involuntary Manslaughter, Homicide by Vehicle, Accident Involving Death and related offenses in the death of, Yvonne Cantz, of Derry Terrace, Philadelphia.
Police say, 64-year-old Cantz was struck and killed by a Ford F-150 pickup that was traveling at a high rate of speed before 4 p.m. in the 10900 block of Academy Road, Philadelphia, PA.
Thompson was later determined to be operating the offending vehicle.
Cantz was walking in the shoulder of the road at the time she was hit. source
She was pronounced dead of blunt force trauma injuries consistent with the crash.
Thompson’s vehicle was later located at a nearby shopping center.
He was arrested that evening.
