NEWTON COUNTY, TX. (THECOUNT) — Amanda Lynn Burns, of Orange, TX, has been identified as the victim struck and killed by a train near Deweyville in Newton County, TX, late Sunday night.
Burns, 37, died after she was struck by a train near Deweyville in Newton County late Sunday night. The fatal incident occurred on the railroad tracks near County Road 4181 at about 10:50 p.m. Sunday night.
The train’s conductor told authorities that he spotted Burns jogging or running along the railroad tracks, the NCSO spokeswoman said. He blew his horn, but there was no response from Burns. source
Burns was pronounced dead at the scene of blunt force trauma consistent with a collision.
Jefferson County officials have ordered an autopsy.
