Pensacola, FL. (THECOUNT) — Dwight Showers, of Pensacola, Florida, has been identified as the pedestrian struck and killed by a vehicle just before midnight Friday.
Showers, 52, was killed after being struck by an SUV while walking near the intersection of Pensacola Boulevard and Kenmore Road.
A death report from the FHP says Showers, “was wearing dark colored clothing with no reflective gear or lighting.” He was hit by the vehicle’s bumper.
The report says the SUV driver stopped and tried to help.
The report says 52-year-old Dwight Showers was walking on the shoulder of Pensacola Boulevard when it says he walked into the path of an oncoming Ford Expedition. The vehicle’s bumper hit Showers and he was taken to Sacred Heart Medical Center. Showers was later pronounced dead sometime Saturday. source
Showers was transported to an area hospital where he was later pronounced dead of blunt force trauma injuries suffered in the incident.
