ELK GROVE, CA. (THECOUNT) — Colin Michael Mulhern, of Centennial, Colorado, was identified as the victim killed in an early morning crash on Interstate 5 in Elk Grove.
Mulhern, 30, was riding in a van carrying at least six passengers when a woman who was allegedly drunk driving smashed into them early Monday morning, according to Sacramento County Coroner records.
The two-car accident happened shortly after 2:35 a.m. on northbound I-5 between Twin Cities and Hood Franklin roads. According to CHP officials, passengers were ejected from the white van upon impact. source
Mulhern was pronounced dead at the scene.
Three of the other passengers were taken to the hospital with major injuries, and two others suffered minor injuries.
The woman was arrested for allegedly driving under the influence, California Highway Patrol said.
