WINNSBORO, SC. (THECOUNT) — Damontay Wheeler, of Winnsboro, SC, has been identified by deputies as the victim of a homicide that occurred Wednesday night.
Wheeler, 17, was found suffering from a gunshot wound by officers who were responding to a call of shots fired.
Wheeler was pronounced dead at the scene.
A shooting suspect identified as, Keonta Jaquez Johnson, was later taken in custody.
Keonta Jaquez Johnson has been arrested in connection to the incident in the Allendale-Fairfax area, according to the Sheriff’s Office. Officers are on the way to pick the suspect up there now and are hoping to have him back by Thursday afternoon. Deputies from the Sheriff’s Office, SLED, and The Fairfield County Coroner’s Office responded to the scene at Drawdy Park in Winnsboro. The shooting is still under investigation by the Winnsboro Department of Public Safety. source
