NC Woman Tracey Hunt ID’d As Durham Victim Shot In Face By BF Who Then Called 911

ORANGE COUNTY, NC. (THECOUNT) — Tracey Hunt has been named as the Orange County woman shot in the face by her boyfriend, who afterward, summoned 911 for help.

Anthony Wheeler was arrested Wednesday on assault charges after he allegedly shot his girlfriend in the face then called 911 to report it.

Deputies found Wheeler walking away from the home he shared with Tracey Hunt in the 5800 block of Guess Road. He was on the phone with the county’s central communications office at the time.

Wheeler called 911 shortly after midnight and admitted he shot Hunt, the sheriff’s office said. source

Deputies found Hunt and the gun used in the shooting inside the the home the couple shared.

Hunt was transported to an area hospital. Her condition was not made available.

Wheeler is charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury and he was being held without bond.
