UNION PARISH, LA. (THECOUNT) – Misty Thurmon has been identified as the woman killed after a large tree came down on her home during a storm Monday.
Thurmon, 45, was alone in her mobile home on Pilgrims Rest Church Rd near Spearsville, LA, when thunderstorms caused a large tree to fall onto her house around 5:15 p.m.
Crews worked through the evening to remove the tree and debris to get to the victim’s body. source
The sheriff said there were a lot of trees down throughout Union Parish but there had been no other extensive damage reported.
Thurmon was pronounced dead at the scene of blunt force trauma injuries suffered in the tragic accident.
