VA Infant Dies In Hot Car As Mother Worked Inside Emporia Domino’s

EMPORIA, VA. (THECOUNT) — An Emporia mother, who is employed at Domino’s Pizza, has been arrested after leaving a 6-month-old boy in a hot car as she worked at the pizzeria for an extended period of time. Sadly, the child did not survive.

Charges are pending against the Emporia mother, who has not been identified, after police say her infant boy died Friday night after being left alone in a hot vehicle.

Authorities say officers responded to the Domino’s Pizza located at 200 Market Drive around 9 p.m. on calls of a child not breathing.

Responding officers pulled the baby from the vehicle and performed CPR until Greensville County Rescue responded to take over.

The infant was transported to an area hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

An investigation revealed the child’s mother worked at the Dominos Pizza restaurant and had left the infant in the vehicle for an extended period of time.

According to investigators, the mother had taken the baby to work with her after having a child care issue. Pinkard said the mother has other children besides the infant, but they had been left elsewhere for childcare. source

The infant’s body was transported to the Medical Examiner’s office in Richmond for an autopsy.

Police are working with the Greensville County Department of Social Services while the investigation continues.

Anyone with information on the case may contact police at 911.
