SOMERSET, MA. (THECOUNT) — Jonathan Neveu, has been identified as the Somerset police officer involved in a fatal early Friday morning crash.
Hailey Allard of Somerset, has been identified as the young woman killed in the crash involving a police cruiser in Somerset early Friday morning.
Somerset police said the officer was responding to a call when the cruiser collided with a Honda Civic on Route 138 around 12:30 a.m. The vehicle was driven by 20-year-old Allard.
Allard was rushed to an area hospital where she was later pronounced dead of blunt force trauma sustained in the crash.
The driver of the car, 20-year-old Hailey Allard of Somerset, was rushed to Charlton Memorial Hospital where she died. A witness told WBZ-TV they saw two officers performing CPR on her in the road after the crash. McNeil said one of them was the officer involved in the collision. source
The officer, who has not yet been identified, was treated and released from an area hospital.
Authorities said the officer was headed to back up another officer who was in the area investigating attempted car burglaries.
No other information was immediately made available.
The crash remains under investigation.
