“Out Of This World” Candidate Who May Have Tilted Ohio Seat Claims “Raised By Aliens” Speaks “19 Languages” Twitter Set “Private” 37 Followers

EARTH, (THECOUNT) — Joe Manchik, the Green Party nominee who may have tiled Tuesday’s Ohio special election, claims his ancestors came from a distant planet and when asked, couldn’t remember his own website address.

Manchik’s run for Congress in Ohio’s razor thin contest earned nearly enough votes to throw the race into an automatic recount. But before all that, he was delivering a speech-slurred interview in which he claimed he was from “Hell,” Michigan. And if you’re wondering, Hell, is an unincorporated Michigan community located in Putnam Township, Livingston County, according to Wikipedia. It’s unclear if Manchik actually hails from the area, or possibly a more distant planet.

During the interview, Manchik also claimed to speak 19 languages including “Spanglish” and said he was fluent in reading “Sheet Music.”

Manchik’s personal Twitter account sports a meger 37 followers and is set to ‘private,’ leaving potential constituents basically locked out.

‘I ♥ G A R B A G E ! ! !’ his bio reads. It also promotes a sparsely populated MySpace page.

In Tuesday’s closely watched special election, 1,127 Ohioans chose him over Republican Troy Balderson and Democrat Danny O’Connor. Balderson’s apparent margin of victory was just 1,754 votes. Presuming Manchik’s base would otherwise have been O’Connor supporters, the result without him would have been a hair’s-width away from triggering an automatic recount. source

Election officials said Tuesday night that there were still 5,048 outstanding absentee ballots to count, along with another 3,435 provisional ballots.

State law requires officials to wait 11 days before counting any of them, throwing the race into slow-motion chaos until at least August 18.
