SAVANNAH, GA. (THECOUNT) — Inmate, Moseh Underwood, who was being housed at the Chatham County Jail, was found dead in his jail cell of a apparent suicide, say authorities.
The Chatham County Sheriff’s Office identified Underwood, 24, as the inmate found deceased in his cell in the Chatham County Jail on Aug. 4.
Jail workers discovered Moseh Underwood, 24, unresponsive in his cell around 4:26 p.m. Aug. 4. The sheriff’s office called his death an “apparent suicide.” The office notified his next of kin. source
The Sheriff’s Office Internal Affairs Unit is investigating Underwood’s death in order to determine if officers violated any jail policies which is standard procedure.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is investigating the incident.
