WESLEY CHAPEL, FL. (THECOUNT) — Jacob Taylor Gianatasio of Wesley Chapel, has been identified as the victim killed following a motorcycle-vs-auto crash in Port Richey Saturday.
Gianatasio, 23, was operating a Yamaha motorcycle on U.S. 19 just south of San Marco Drive when the fatal collision occurred Aug. 4 at 12:30 p.m., according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
According to officials, an 83-year-old man driving a Hyundai Elantra attempted to make a U-turn when he turned in front of Gianatasio, causing a collision.
On Saturday, Aug. 4 at 12:30 p.m., James Douglas Pulver, 83, of Port Richey was driving his Hyundai Elantra north on U.S. 19 in the left turn lane just south of San Marco Drive. Gianatasio was riding his Yamaha motorcycle south in the inside lane, approaching San Marco Drive. According to state troopers, Pulver attempted a U-turn into the path of the motorcycle and struck it. source
Gianatasio was pronounced dead at the scene.
Pulver was taken to Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point in Hudson with minor injuries.
