VAN BUREN, AR. (THECOUNT) — Johnny Fisher, of Van Buren, was killed, and a Van Buren police officer sent to the hospital, following a deadly police-involved shooting early Sunday morning.
Officers with the Van Buren Police Department responded to a disturbance call just before 1:00 a.m. Sunday at the residence of 2209 Granite Circle. Upon arrival, Fisher, 68, reportedly open fire on officers.
Upon arrival, officers made contact with an individual, later identified as Johnny Fisher, 68, of Van Buren. source
According to initial statements made at the scene, officers asked Fisher to exit the residence. Fisher refused and instead brandished a firearm and shot at officers, striking one of them.
Both officers returned fire, killing Fisher.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Arkansas State Police are currently investigating the shooting.
