WINSTON-SALEM, NC. (THECOUNT) — Winston-Salem man, Jovannie Gonzalez-Martinez, has been identified by police as the man found fatally shot early today at an apartment complex.
Gonzalez-Martinez, 20, was found suffering from gunshot wounds after officers arrived to Cambridge Apartments in the 2300 block of Cherry Street NW at about 5:15 a.m. on calls of shots fired.
Authorities say, when officers arrived they found a victim suffering from at least one gunshot wound in the parking lot of the complex.
The victim, later identified as Gonzalez-Martinez, of 605-D West 23rd Street, was transported to an area hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
Family members and the girlfriend of Gonzalez-Martinez gathered at the apartment complex Thursday morning, watching police work. They declined to speak to a reporter about the victim. source
