COTUIT, MA. (THECOUNT) — Fall River man, Mickey Rivera, the driver of a vehicle involved in a double-fatal crash on Cape Cod over the weekend, was out on bail at the time of the crash.
Rivera was released into the community after his charges were “drastically reduced,” in a violent robbery case, prosecutors say.
Rivera, 22, of Fall River, was operating a vehicle when he collided head-on with an SUV being driven by Mashpee father, Kevin Quinn.
Quinn, 32, and Rivera, were killed in the midnight Massachusetts Route 28 crash in Cotuit.
A third unidentified person, a female passenger in Rivera’s vehicle, was seriously injured in the crash. Her condition was not immediately made available.
Friends say Quinn, a Marine veteran who served two tours of duty in Afghanistan, had just spent the evening with his wife, Kara, and their first child, Logan, who had been born Wednesday. source
Rivera was scheduled to return to court Wednesday for a pretrial hearing.
