NORFOLK, NE. (THECOUNT) — Rebecca Fischer and Lium Fischer have been identified as the two fatalities in a Pierce County, NE crash Thursday.
Fischer, 36, was traveling in a vehicle with three small children near the the intersection of Highway 81 and Highway 13, in South Branch, Nebraska, when she attempted to make a turn and was struck by a southbound semi.
Rebecca Fischer was pronounced dead on the scene. Little Lium was transported to an area hospital where the child was later pronounced deceased. Two other girls, 5 and 2, were transported to area hospital and are expected to survive.
There were three small children in the vehicle as well. Two of the children, Lium Fischer, 4, and Scarlett Fischer, 5, were transported to Faith Regional Health Services hospital in Norfolk and the third, Lara Fischer, 2, was flown to the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha. Lium Fischer passed away at the hospital. The two girls are both expected to survive. source
The driver of the semi, Tanner Albus, 26, of Decatur, was transported to Norfolk as well, with non-life-threatening conditions.
The Nebraska State Patrol is investigating the crash.
