DES MOINES, IA. (THECOUNT) — Longtime Des Moines sports radio jock, Larry Cotlar, was named as the man killed Saturday night when he was swept from his van during flash flooding.
Cotlar, 65, was traveling in a van near Twana Dr, & 50th St in Des Moines, IA, when his vehicle became disable in floodwaters.
Upon arrival, officers observed a disabled vehicle and learned the occupant had exited said vehicle. Cotlar was later named as the driver of the van and it was determined that he was swept away during the flood.
Cotlar was later located several blocks away.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to a Des Moines Police Department News Release, 65-year-old Larry Cotlar died in flooding Saturday night. At approximately 8:50 pm Des Moines Police Patrol Officers got a report of an occupied van, stalled in high water at 50th and Twana Drive. source
Des Moines Police say more information on the death will be released later today.
