EMMETSBURG, IA. (THECOUNT) — Iowa man, Luke Rouse, has been identified as the victim struck and killed by a van while biking with his family north of Emmetsburg Tuesday afternoon.
Rouse, 36, of Emmetsburg, was riding bicycles with his wife, Lacey, and 4-year-old namesake, Luke, when they were hit by a van driven by 83-year-old Duane Anderson, of Estherville, IA.
Lacey and Luke were injured in the collision. The extent of their injuries has not yet been updated.
Rouse died as a result of blunt force trauma.
Authorities say a man was killed and his wife and 4-year-old son were injured when they were struck by van while riding their bicycles in northern Iowa. The accident occurred around 1:20 p.m. Tuesday, about 3 miles north of Emmetsburg. An Iowa State Patrol crash report says the van driver, 83-year-old Duane Anderson, of Estherville, reported that he was adjusting a mirror and didn’t see the cyclists. source
Lacey Rouse and young Luke were transported to Palo Alto County Hospital in Emmetsburg.
